OUR SERVICES
Social workSocial workers deal with the problems of the migrants in the offices of our association in Budapest, as well as in the refugee reception centres and community quarters in Debrecen, Bicske and Békéscsaba. Their work concerns helping migrants to make and keep contact with refugee authorities and municipalities, as well as to find residential, employment and training possibilities. Our association regularly organises events for children, cultural and sport events for refugees. During those events volunteers help social workers. The association does not provide direct financial support or provision. Children’s campDozens of refugee children arrive in Hungary every year. They have to leave their home country, their friends and relatives because of hostilities, civil war, oppression or political feud.Hungary offers protection for these children. Our association helps them to enjoy their childhood and offers them a week full of joy and relaxation. In 2008, our colleagues at Menedék Association organise the 10th summer camp for several dozens of refugee children. The children are offered the chance to meet in a playful way with other refugee children who have been living in Hungary for many years and have successfully integrated. “Oltalomkeresők” newsletterThat’s been 13 years that the association issues a monthly newsletter focusing on international migrant news. The objective is to provide professionals and people interested in the migrant subject with relevant and useful information. “Oltalomkeresők” can be downloaded from our website www.menedek.hu, or you can subscribe to it at the e-mail address of the association This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Media campaignsThe goal of our media campaigns is to raise awareness of the society on refugee issues, to avert the development of xenophobia, to increase the will of accepting people into the society and to promote tolerance and the successful integration of refugees. The key messages of our campaigns are tolerance and acceptance of being different. Please see the print materials on our website. |
