The final conference of 'Routes –The way towards integration' will take place next Tuesday 28 October at the Committee of the Regions, in Brussels. 'Routes' is an EU funded project that has carried out preparatory actions under the INTI programme. The project has promoted the integration of people who are not European Union citizens. It has contributed to increasing collaboration among public entities, NGOs and associations regarding migration issues. Consultation mechanisms at local and regional level are the most effective ways to maintain a dialogue between immigrants, hosting communities, public institutions and other stakeholders. The project ROUTES aimed at setting up transnational cooperation networks to exchange best practices in the field of immigrants’ integration. 'Routes' has identified the most effective policy approaches to guarantee an appropriate response to integration needs. The project has analysed good practices concerning integration policies produced by local governments and valuable experiences generated by NGOs in 12 European regions. After the final conference, 'Routes' will have created a framework for a better integration of immigrants and a set of recommendations for the implementation of the most valuable findings to different contexts. Next December 3rd, the project partners will organize the opening of a photo exhibition on migrant integration at Halles St. Géry (Brussels).
