COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale ONLUS is an independent Italian lay organization founded in 1965 by Father Vincenzo Barbieri in response to youth movement necessities to commit themselves to problems linked to development and peace issues by directly acting in Countries in the Southern Hemisphere.

In over 40 years of work, we have carried out more than 700 projects in 50 countries, involving more than 50,000 local operators and guaranteeing lasting direct benefits to over 60 million people.

Today COOPI is present in 25 Nations with more than 100 development and emergency projects. Our main Institutional financial entities are European Union, U.N. agencies, Italian Government, local agencies, and other European Governments in addition to the generosity of private donors, companies, foundations, and volunteers. COOPI is an association recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an NGO (Non-governmental organization for cooperation and development) – in accordance with law no. 49, 26.02.1987.
